Deadlock Occupant Explained – ProSettings.net

Residents in Deadlock are neutral non-player characters that appear throughout the map. Their main goal is to provide Souls to players. Dweller camps can be found in three difficulty levels. The higher the difficulty of the camp, the higher the Soul reward.

What is a Resident?

Dwellers are alien-looking creatures that appear on the map. They do not appear at the start of the map: they start spawning after a few minutes of game time have passed. Once the player fights the Dweller, they become hostile and start shooting at the player.

Occupant Type

Residents appear in the camp. There are small camps. medium camp, and large camp. Small camps contain the easiest Dwellers, but they also reward the fewest Souls. Large camps have the toughest Dwellers, and they (logically) reward Souls the most.

After appearing, the Dweller’s camp is visible on the map. Each Dweller camp has its own icon:

  • Small: single triangle
  • Medium: triangle with a line below it
  • Large: triangle with two lines underneath

Small camps start spawning first, after just a few minutes. Large and medium camps will appear much later; it’s currently 7 minutes. Once the last Inhabitant of a camp is killed, the reappearance timer starts. Small camps will respawn the quickest, while large camps will take the longest to respawn.

Small Dweller’s Camp

Small camps are easy to kill, and don’t provide much reward to Souls. They are marked with a single triangle on the map. Small camps can basically be challenged at any time, as they are very easy to defeat.

Intermediate Resident Camp

Medium camps offer about twice as many Souls as small Dweller camps offer. However, they are harder to beat. Medium Dweller Camps are marked on the map by a triangle with one bar under it.

Big Resident Camp

Large Dweller Camps offer by far the best Soul rewards, but they are much harder to beat than small and medium camps. Each Large Dweller killed will be rewarded with more than double the Souls given by a Medium Dweller, so it is very beneficial to launch a coordinated attack on a Large Dweller’s camp. This is marked by a triangle with two lines below it.

Insecure Soul

One last important thing to know about Dwellers in Deadlock is that they drop Unsecured Souls. Unsecured Souls are separated from regular Souls, and are slowly transformed into regular Souls over the course of the game. If you are killed before you spend or convert your Unsecured Soul, you will lose it and anyone can take it.

Therefore, if you are using Dwellers as your main source of Souls, it is important that you be careful after defeating a camp. You definitely don’t want to give away your hard-earned rewards to the enemy team.

Conclusion

Dwellers can be a good source of Souls in Deadlock, but they should be approached with caution. Firstly because the larger side turned out to be very difficult to beat, and secondly because they took down Unsecured Souls. If you die before spending those Unsecured Souls, you lose them all, thus undoing your work. Therefore, residents must be approached with caution and careful planning.
